MIDDLEWICH High School is once again celebrating ‘excellent’ GCSE results, with students maintaining high standards across core subjects and beyond.

In English literature and maths statistics, 97 per cent of pupils achieved A* to C grades, with 67 per cent hitting the mark in English language and 62 in maths.

Sciences also continued to excel, with 95 per cent taking home A* to C grades in separate sciences.

The school’s success in providing a broad curriculum was again proven by 100 per cent C grades and above in German, Spanish and art and design.

There were also 83 per cent A* to C grades in history and French, with 78 per cent in business studies.

Keith Simpson, headteacher, said: “I am once again delighted with these GCSE results which we can celebrate.

“They prove that with a positive attitude, resilience and determination, you will succeed.

“Our motto of ‘Achievement for All’ is reflected by the excellent holistic progress our students make in their five years here at Middlewich High School.

“Thank you to the staff who have worked so professionally to support our students and to our parents and carers for working in partnership with us to achieve these positive results.”

Emma Drew and Alex Smith both secured 11 grades at A* and A, with nine and 10 A*s, respectively.

Daniel Keegan and Alex Naylor gained nine A* and A grades, with Issy Nash eight, and Alex Tyrer-Jones and Matthew Miles seven apiece.

Three students were commended for scoring A*s and As in six subjects, with a further four securing five each of the top two grades.

Alex Tyrer-Jones, who is now set to study for his A-levels at Sir John Deane’s College, said: “When I was coming in my heart was pounding. I couldn’t believe it when I opened my results.”

Sam Evans added: “I’ve been really stressed but now I’ve got it it’s all sorted, and it feels like all the hard work has paid off.

“I got an A* in history and a B in maths, which I wasn’t even expecting to pass so I can’t complain!”

Ross McGrory, who will be studying maths, physics, electronics and computing at Sir John Deane’s, said: “I’m really happy – I passed everything with a few good unexpected results.

“I was quite relaxed beforehand. It hadn’t really hit me, it was only this morning that it really did.”
