A MAN has been arrested in Winsford after a 'suspicious' bag was thrown into a community supermarket.

Police and fire crews were called to the Winsford Community Hub at Dingle Recreation Centre, in High Street, at 4.31pm on Thursday, May 2.

It is believed a man had thrown a bag into the building, shouted something, then left the scene.

Fire crews were attending as a precaution, and left when it was clear they weren't needed.

A 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of committing a public order offence, which police are treating as racially aggravated.

The Winsford Community Hub is home to several charity services, including the Very Green Grocery social supermarket, run by Changing Lives Together, and the Green Uniform and Baby Bank.
