JOCK Straiton and his neighbours made a number of calls to the emergency services in an attempt to stop the disturbance outside their flats, a court has heard.

The jury sitting at Chester Crown Court heard today, Monday, the harrowing calls made to police and the ambulance service in the early hours of July 26.

The first call was made by a Sandybank Flats resident at 1.11am.

She said a group of people had left Winnington Rec and were causing a disturbance.

The operator responded saying the force had received a number of emergency calls that night and would aim to get there as soon as possible.

Jock Straiton made the next call to police.

During the recording the shouts of a group of people could be heard in the background.

He told the operator he had been threatened and he was given the number of a local police station and asked to ring them.

The first resident made her second call shortly after adding that there was a lot of noise and the group had made their way into the garden.

Mr Straiton rang a second time and was told a patrol would be sent.

A third call was made by the woman saying she had heard glass smashing and the group of around ‘five or six’ had climbed over the fence.

Fellow neighbour Christina Beadle made a call shortly after saying the group had been giving Mr Straiton a lot of abuse and she was told someone would be sent to the area.

A final call was made to the emergency services saying a man had been attacked and he was lying on the floor.

The trial continues.
