NORTHWICH Victoria continue their pre-season preparation with a first practice match at Clitheroe tonight, Wednesday.

Andy Preece’snew-look promotion hopefuls head to Lancashire to take on the Evo-Stik NPL Division One North outfit at their Shawbridge home, kick off 7.45pm.

All of his new recruits are expected to feature.

“It’s great to have a game to look forward to,” he said.

“Obviously both teams will still be at an early stage in their preparation and as far as I’m concerned the result is not a priority.

“That view won’t change even if we win every match this summer.”

The former Bury boss was hoping to finalise moves for two players – a central defender and a wide midfielder – at training last night.

If successful, that pair could join his six other summer signings on the pitch later.

Goalkeeper Ben Hinchliffe, stopper Ian Kearney, full back Adam Sumner, midfield duo Steve Abbott and Kyle Armstrong plus front runner Ryan Wade complete that list.

Richie Allen has been training with the team too and so could play a part.

However John Disney continues to convalesce after breaking his right leg in a league match back in April and will watch from the sidelines.

Defender Steve Woods, due for talks on his future at the club later this week, will not feature either.

Preece said: “Nobody should attach too much importance to what happens as the season’s start is still a whole month away.

“I remember what position we were in this time a year ago and the contrast is total; this team will be better prepared for the first game than any other since I’ve been at the club.”

Adults pay £5 to watch the match and concessions £2.

Accompanied children can enter free.
